At Dakota Prep, we believe that the future of the trades depends on the strength of its community. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce the launch of the Dakota Prep Fellowship 2025, a program designed to empower and support apprentices who exemplify leadership, mentorship, and a commitment to fostering growth within the electrical trade.

What is Dakota Prep?

Dakota Prep’s mission is to empower individuals to build successful careers in the trades. Through intuitive and impactful digital products, we help students prepare for and pass their trade exams, advancing to journeyman status. With our mobile apps, apprentices can focus on areas where they need the most improvement, ensuring a well-rounded preparation journey. To date, we’ve supported over 10,000 students from over 30+ schools and unions in Canada, making their dreams of a successful trades career a reality.

Purpose of the Fellowship

The Dakota Prep Fellowship recognizes and supports five exceptional electrical apprentices who have demonstrated a deep commitment to mentoring and assisting their peers. By fostering collaboration and learning, these apprentices contribute to a stronger, more connected trades community. This fellowship aims to celebrate their efforts and support their professional growth in the electrical field.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the Dakota Prep Fellowship, applicants must:

• Be a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th-year apprentice enrolled in a registered electrical apprenticeship program in Canada.
• Demonstrate active involvement in mentoring, tutoring, or leading peer support activities.
• Exhibit leadership qualities and a passion for sharing knowledge and skills in the electrical field.

Fellowship Award

Each selected fellow will receive:

• A $1,000 individual award.
• Recognition as one of five distinguished fellows across Canada.

Application Process

Applicants are required to submit the following:

1. Personal Statements: Essays describing their role in helping other students, the impact of their efforts, and how this fellowship will support their professional growth.
2. Letters of Recommendation: One letter from an instructor highlighting the applicant’s commitment, leadership, and impact in supporting peers.
3. Proof of Enrollment: Documentation confirming their status as a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th-year apprentice in good standing with a recognized Canadian apprenticeship program.

Selection Criteria

The selection committee will evaluate applications based on:

• Impact on Peers: Evidence of positive contributions to the learning and development of other apprentices.
• Leadership and Initiative: Demonstration of leadership and a proactive approach to mentoring and peer support.
• Commitment to Professional Growth: A clear vision for continued growth in the electrical field and contributions to the trade community.
